IBTO shares its experiences on “Voluntary blood donor recruitment” with Lithuania National Blood Centre

Following to the request of Lithuania National Blood Centre, a delegation from IBTO including Dr. Mahtab Maghsudlu, Dr. Zohreh Masaeli and Dr. Gity Izadipour held a two-day workshop on” Voluntary blood donor recruitment” for the specialists of Lithuania National Blood Centre.

The purpose of the workshop was to review and exchange experiences on voluntary non-remunerated blood donation and develop plans for 100% Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation (VNRBD).

The program started with a visiting tour to the Lithuanian National blood center in the city of Vilnius on Oct 27, 2014. On the following days, the workshop was held with the focus on Importance of VNRBD & essential requirements, blood donor recruitment strategies, importance of regular blood donation, donor retention strategies and blood supply management.

Dr. Edita Vilutyte, Deputy Director for Medicine on behalf of Lithuania National Blood Centre expressed her thanks for highly qualified and detailed workshop. She hoped that Lithuania National Blood Centre could adapt these experiences to improve its performances.

In addition, Iranian delegation participated in an international conference on “Voluntary blood donation: situation, aspects and solutions in the Baltic region and Europe” organized by Lithuania National Blood Centre. The delegates from Iran, Denmark, Estonia, Finland and European Blood Alliance participated in the conference. Dr. Mahtab Maghsudlu, gave a speech on “The strategies of IBTO to reach 100 VNRBD”.
