To achieve continuous quality improvement, the effectiveness of all elements in the quality system should be assessed.

To achieve continuous quality improvement, the effectiveness of all elements in the quality system should be assessed. Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization (IBTO), as WHO collaborating Center has contributed to the preparation, distribution, analyzing and reporting data from Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) serology External Quality Assessment Scheme (EQAS) panels for 5 countries of Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) in 2014.

Every panel consisted of 10 serum samples which were obtained from Iranian blood donors. Results were reported by participants during 29-Nov-2014 to 14-Dec-2014, after receiving the samples. The interpretations of results were compared with relevant references results in IBTO and finalized in February 2015 and distributed to the participating countries.

The project aims to  assist laboratories in evaluating the accuracy of screening test results and improving performance of red cell antibody detection during blood transfusion compatibility testing.
