A high-ranking delegation headed by Iranian Minister of Health visited Afghanistan in order to discuss the ways of joint collaboration between two countries. The visit took place after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between two ministers of health with the aim of promoting health services and health staff training.
Along with the delegation, Dr. Ali Akbar Pourfathollah, IBTO Managing Director had a meeting with Afghanistan Minister of Health and gave a presentation on the status of blood transfusion in Iran and its recent achievements.
In his visit to Afghanistan Blood Service, Dr. Pourfathollah and Dr. Enayatullah Hashemi, Director of Afghanistan National Blood Bank discussed the ways of educational and technical collaboration in their negotiations.
Iran and Afghanistan has a long history on blood transfusion collaboration. IBTO has provided technical consultancy to Afghanistan Blood Service, and many training courses have been organized in Iran for Afghan experts.
