IBTOs achievements hailed in Pakistan
In Pakistan a two – day workshop was organized on -Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation- on December 8-9 in Islamabad. Workshop held to review and exchange experiences of voluntary non-remunerated blood donor program.

On behalf of Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization, Dr. Mahtab Maghsoodlu attended the Workshop and presented a lecture on experiences of IBTO in reaching 100% voluntary non-remunerated blood donation. The lecture was welcomed by audiences and Iran experiences on recruitment of voluntary donors were further discussed.
 
Dr Nabila Metwalli, WHO Regional Advisor, also highlighted IBTO achievements on centralized national blood transfusion system, 100% voluntary donation and low prevalence of transfusion transmitted infections as a role model in region.
 
It is Noteworthy to mention that 75% of blood donors in Pakistan are family replacement, 15% paid and only 10% of collected blood comes from volunteers.
